Ways to Add Some Easter Fun into Your Next YW Lesson

We're doing an extra episode this month because I know a lot of you are realizing that this Sunday, March 26th is the last Sunday that we have before Easter! Plus we don’t get to teach on Easter because we're only having one hour of church. If you want to tie in a little bit of Easter into your lesson, here's some quick ideas that you can use to help teach about “How Can I Strengthen My Testimony of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ?”
Save it for later, pin it now!

Witnesses of the Resurrected Savior
Because we're talking about the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It's a great idea to go back and read some accounts of witnesses that saw the resurrected Jesus Christ. There are two ways that you can do this.
First, try my printable which lists 20 different appearances of the Savior after He was resurrected. It's divided up into locations so you have the Holy Land, the Nephites, in this dispensation, etc. You could divide into groups and they can read those scriptures, figure out what they learned from those accounts, why that appearance was important, why Christ chose to show Himself, how the people felt, what we can learn, and how can that account strengthen our testimonies of the resurrection.
Or you can head to my witness cards printable. Some of the witness cards have scriptures on them so you can divide those up easily among your class they can read the card, read the scripture, and then they can draw it out or they can write who it is that Christ is appearing to, why He's appearing, how they felt, how that then can strengthen our testimony or reaffirm to us that Christ is a resurrected being and that we too will be resurrected one day.
Then there are some blank cards. These are great for writing your own testimony on them so you can keep them in your scriptures and your journal. You can also watch some of the videos from the apostles today that testify of the living Jesus Christ and summarize their testimonies on the cards.
Build an Easter Temple
I love to build a temple at Easter time. A few years ago, there was the hashtag #BecauseofHim, which meant because of Jesus Christ, we have so many blessings. Imagine a world without Jesus Christ (there are some great Easter videos here that you can use as you introduce this topic. Try the video, “Why We Need a Savior”). Think about that with your class: Because of Jesus Christ, what do we have? And you can list some of those on the board then build a temple.
The easiest way to build is to do it with images, but you can also draw them out or grab some blocks and type up paper strips to tape onto your blocks to build a temple that way. I have found images for you from the 2019 Come Follow Me manual that you could cut up if you still have that one or you can print them off online. If you're lucky enough to have a gospel art kit, I have numbers for those pictures as well that you can easily use. You can also check to see if your library has a gospel art kit so you can just check out those specific images.
Basically, we're going to go over the following:
The triumphal entry
Cleansing the temple
The last supper
The garden of Gethsemane
The trial crucifixion and burial
The spirit world
The resurrection
Temple and family history work
This is another great opportunity for group work. Place the images in rows up on the board as you go over each one (scriptures verses included in the printable). At the end you draw the temple spires, or basically tall triangles, to make this image of a temple. Remind your class how everything in the temple is possible because of what Jesus Christ chose to do for us.
Because of Christ's atoning sacrifice and resurrection, we have all of those blessings in the temple. We can be a family forever. We can do baptisms for the dead. You can also tie in Joseph Smith’s First Vision if you want.
General conference is coming!
It's so exciting, but it's also an exhausting weekend. Give yourself the tools you need to focus and engage with General Conference, like my General Conference Notebook, designed specifically for teens to help you prepare, engage, and review Conference. Hurry though, Conference will be here before you know it.
