Finding the perfect baptism gift for your Latter-day Saint friend or child can feel a little overwhelming. And really, you don’t need to give a gift. But if you want to give something special to commemorate this milestone, we’ve gathered a list of tried and true gifts below.

Save it for later, pin it now.

CTR Rings (and Jewelry)

A popular gift idea is a beautiful CTR ring- works for multiple ages and genders. You can go as fancy or simple as you want these days. The only trick is getting the right size. You’ll have to either find out their ring size beforehand or go for the adjustable ones. Depending on the store, you could get a gift receipt.

Mustard seed jewelry is also a popular choice as it’s a great reminder of the power of faith and how we need to continue to nourish our seeds. You can find them in necklaces, key chains, bracelet charms, etc.

Cozy Blanket

Another great gift regardless of age or gender is a cozy blanket. You can get cheap ones at Walmart or go super comfy and amazing. Attach a note that says it is to remind them of the warm and cozy feeling they had when they got baptized as well as the many more times they will feel the Holy Ghost. For kids, you could also add the book, "The Holy Ghost Is like a Blanket."

Baptism Coloring Poster

Our 6 foot long Baptism Coloring Poster is a gift that can be used before, during, or after their baptism. We love it because so many people can participate making it even more fun. Here’s a few neat ways to use it:

  • Start coloring it the week or so before the baptism. It’s a great way to encourage pondering on what’s going to happen next and creates a safe place to let the conversations flow. If the person getting baptized has a question, it can be easier to ask when they are coloring.

  • Set it up on a table for people to color and sign as they come to the baptism. Some people get there so early it can be nice to have a reverent activity for the kids to engage with as they wait for things to start.

  • Bring it out while people change out of their wet clothes. Encourage them to add a note and sign next to what they color.

  • Keep it for the reception after. Goes great on a kids table or can be colored as you enjoy a meal.

  • Hang it up on their wall after to remember the special day. Then take some photos of it to include in their memory books when you are ready to take the poster down.

Framed picture of Christ or a temple

Another one that’s great for all ages is a picture of Christ or your nearest temple. You can buy a cheap print at Church Distribution or discover your favorites on Etsy and more. We love that’s a reminder of where our focus should be. Here are a few of our favorite images:

Add a mat around the image for people who attend the baptism to sign and leave a note.

Scripture and Journals

Personalized scriptures have been a long standing tradition in many Latter-day Saint homes. However, many are now opting for the cheaper versions of the scriptures when baptized at 8 years and saving the nicer personalized sets for when they go into Young Men or Young Women’s. We recommend heading to Church Distribution for both sets. Many even like to give a scripture journal version of one particular book such as the Book of Mormon. These editions have extra room around the edges for lots of notes and have a variety of beautiful covers.

Journals can also be a great option. A general journal or one dedicated to writing down spiritual experiences or their testimony through the years. You can even start it by writing your own testimony in it. We like this one that has a temple design on the front and a scripture at the bottom of each page.

Scripture bag

Try a tote or go with the traditional carrier. Everyone needs something to put their scriptures in. Add some chapstick, a scripture marker, or some mints inside to make it extra special. As for where to get one- everywhere! Amazon has lots but be sure they can fit our larger scripture sets inside, not just a Bible. Etsy has lots too and of course, there is always Deseret Book.

Scripture Markers

A simple red pencil with a note from you is great! Or you can tap into their inner child and get one of these multi-color pencils to mark their scriptures instead. Share your testimony of the scriptures or even why or how you mark your scriptures.

Hymnal- Large or Small

We know, you can access it all on your phones now but it’s so nice to have your own physical hymnal too. Get the mini version so they can add it to their scripture case or get their name engraved on a larger one. If you know they have an interest in music, one of the hymnals with a spiral binding or the Hymns Made Easy can be a special gift too. Church Distribution is a great place for these hymnals.

Signature Baptism Posters

Help them remember their special baptismal day with our personalized baptism posters. Invite everyone who attends to write a message in the blank area making a unique keepsake. The person being baptized can also add in some of their own memories to remember the day. Paired with a poster about what covenants they made, it’s a great momento they can hang on their wall for years to come. Goes great in a 11x17 frame.

Embroidered Towel

Since they are going to get wet, why not give them something special to dry off with? A towel is a fun and useful way to remember their special baptism day. Just remember to give it to them BEFORE the event. Here are few neat choices with an embroidered flourish:

Religious Legos

Okay, they aren’t actually Legos but very similar. Brick building kits are tons of fun. You can get kits to make temples and figurines that resemble scripture heroes or modern missionaries. Brick'Em Young is popular brand that features Latter-day Saint designs. Try the small Salt Lake Temple or an Ammon figurine. You can also find a simplified Salt Lake temple version (and others) on Etsy.

Scripture Figurines

We also recommend scripture toy figurines. Our kids have loved playing with them through the years and there are so many to choose from! Grab one you think they will like then summarize the story in the card to spark their memories of the story. Be sure to add the scripture reference so they can read it again for themselves.
