Why Stake Conference Bingo
We use Bingo to encourage our kids to listen intently to General Conference, why not use one for Stake Conference too? Our version includes words to listen for, speakers to look for, as well as other things that might happen like seeing people wave to each other since they may not have seen them since the last Stake Conference. Here’s why we love using Bingo at these longer meetings:
1. Gives kids another reason to listen.
Instead of hearing a talk and zoning out, kids start tuning in for words and phrases like “Gathering Israel,” “temple,” or “childhood story.” It’s like a treasure hunt.
2. Moves snack time back
Bingo is a great way to earn a snack and keep your kids from eating all the snacks immediately.
3. Keeps hands busy in a good way.
Coloring in or marking a square is helps alleviate some wiggles.
4. Great for older kids and adults too.
You’re never too old for Bingo! We know many an adult who struggle through long meetings too. It’s okay to slip a board into your notebook and play along too. You can even jot down a few notes one the side.
5. Sparks post-conference conversations.
Once the closing hymn is sung, your family has a built-in discussion starter: “Which words did you get?” “What story stood out to you?” It’s an easy, low-pressure way to reflect on the messages and helps you bring the learning home.
Whether your kids are drawing doodles in the margins or constantly whispering, “How much longer?”, this Bingo game is your new secret weapon. Print out a few copies, stash some crayons or pens in your church bag, and get ready for a Stake Conference experience that’s a lot more engaging- and a little less squirmy.
We recommend laminating your boards for extended use. Dry erase markers can then be used to mark off squares. Color the images first as a family to get them excited to use the boards this Stake Conference.
Here’s to a more focused, fun, and spiritually rich Stake Conference- for everyone on your bench.
P.S. We even included a blank Bingo board so you can create your own unique board.
