Patriarchal Blessing Signs

Patriarchal blessings were talked about a lot in the April 2023 General Conference but how often do we really talk about them at home and church? Every baptized member of the church has the right and privilege to receive a patriarchal blessing. BUT, there is no specific age where it just happens so sometimes it just passes people by. I started to talk a lot about patriarchal blessings after my oldest went into Young Women’s and quickly realized that if I talked about it TOO much I’d turn her off them completely. It’s such a delicate balance! What do you do?
Save it for later, pin it now!
I made signs. Signs that would catch their interest, relate to what a lot of teens are thinking. Signs to show them there are answers and help. Try posting your signs where you think your teens will see them the most. I chose the bathroom mirror. This way you can constantly remind them without constantly reminding them.
If they have questions, they know they can come to talk to you about it but you aren’t harping on them either. When they are ready, they know how to take action too. Change the sign or the location of the sign every few months so it’s not just something they learn to tune out.
Patriarchal blessings are so important because they are our personal scriptures! They give guidance, direction, warnings, and hope- things teens need so much!! Things I still need. After they get their blessing you can teach them how to study them and use them for the rest of their lives.
Of course, keep talking about them too. A sign isn’t enough but it does help you from going overboard and it gives them comfort to know they can ask for it whenever they feel they are ready.
Print your signs and help your family start thinking about when they want to get theirs. There are three designs- two say the same thing, and one is different.
Remember, the more we talk about the gospel, the easier it is to share it with others. Keep the gospel conversation going in fun ways with gospel games!
