Looking for the sweetest excuse to break out the chocolate and marshmallows? We’ve got you covered.
This summer, gather your family or church group- young or old- around the campfire for ooey, gooey s’mores and something even better: a chance to share their light. As the flames flicker, invite everyone to share a bit of their testimony and let the Spirit warm more than just your hands.

There’s something about a summer night, a crackling fire, and the smell of toasted marshmallows that makes everything feel just a little more magical. Add in a chance to share testimonies- your light- and you've got an unforgettable evening.
Whether you’re gathering with your youth group, planning a Relief Society night, or simply hanging out as a family waiting for fireworks on Independence Day, this activity is a wonderful blend of delicious fun and meaningful connection.
🔥 How It Works
1. Start with S'mores, Obviously
We've got a list of fun and unique s'mores recipes- think pretzel crisps, peanut butter cups, strawverry slices, even minty magic. Encourage everyone to bring their own marshmallow roasting stick, but be sure to have a few extras sticks on hand just in case. Set out all your favorite ingredients (or invite everyone to bring one topping) and let everyone build their own masterpiece. Post our recipe list on the table for some inspriation (print it further down in this post). These disposable food boats make it easy to load up on your s'more ingredients and carry them to the fire to assemble as soon as your marsmallow is ready.
2. Gather and Share the Light
Once everyone has had a chance to eat at least one s'more invite them to grab a seat around the fire. This is when the best part of the night starts- an opportunity for everyone to share their testimonies in a warm and cozy setting.
You may want to kick things off with a light object lesson. It can help everyone quiet down and focus so it's easier to invite the Spirit in.
3. Keep Sharing Light
Chances are you'll have some extra ingredients when it's all said and done so put it to go use by inviting your group to pack a s'more bag to go. These are great to give to ministering families, neighbors, friends, etc. Add our tags for an uplifting message that helps them feel God's love and yours too (find them with the s'more recipes below).
This summer, give your group a reason to gather, giggle, and grow closer to Christ. All it takes is a fire, a few marshmallows, some chocolate… and the courage to share your light.
Want Even More?
We love this activity as a pre-fireworks show filler. Print some Independence Day coloring pages to enjoy too.
Make your own paper lanterns to show how we can shine our lights so others can see Jesus Christ.
Add some night games in before you break out the s’mores and testimony meeting.
