Weekly Come Follow Me Playlists for July

If your summer routine looks different every week, you're not alone. These playlists make it easy to stay connected to both the Old Testament and General Conference. Each week's readings and a carefully paired Conference talk are ready to go, so whether you're driving, walking, gardening, or tackling laundry, your study plan is already done.

June 29- July 5 (1 Kings 12-13; 17-22)

Oh, how we love Elijah the prophet. My husband loves telling the story of fire coming down from heaven but we’re focusing on the widow of Zarephath as we picked a General Conference talk. Elder Jorge T. Becerra spoke about tithing and how we need to put God first. The widow did just that. She was preparing to die because they were nearly out of food, yet she gave the last of what she had to the prophet first. Because she chose to put God first, she was greatly blessed, just as we are when we pay tithing and put the Lord first in our own lives. Dive in with this week’s playlist.

July 6-12 (2 Kings 2-7)

Brother David J. Wunderli’s talk “Jesus Christ Is Not Our Burden; He Is Our Relief” ties in beautifully with this week’s lesson. Elisha’s ministry is full of hungry, grieving, desperate people receiving help. In fact, this record focuses more on the miracles Elisha performed rather than his teachings. As we pause and take time to notice the miracles in the scriptures and in our lives, we will see yet again how Jesus Christ brings relief, not unnecessary weight or burden. July 13-19 (2 Kings 16-25)

We’re adding President Emily Belle Freeman’s talk “Best Days, Worst Days” to this week’s playlist. We’ll read about how Hezekiah trusted the Lord during impossible odds, spiritual reform thanks to Josiah, and hope BUT also, rebellion, ignored warnings, destruction of Jerusalem, exile, and heartbreak. Best days, worst days. President Freeman reminds us Christ knows all about best days and worst days. Because of Jesus Christ, no matter how bad things get, our best days are ahead of us.

We also added Elder Brian J. Holmes address, “Jesus Christ Is the Way.” We’ll see this week how many trust in and tried everything but Jesus Christ. Elder Holmes teaches us that Jesus Christ isn’t just a way, He is THE way. There isn’t another path to real peace, safety, and eternal life no matter how much we might try to prove otherwise. Get the playlist.

July 20-26 (2 Chronicles 14-20; 26; 30)

2 Chronicles 30 talks about being a peacemaker so what better talk than our prophet’s! “Alive in Christ” by President Dallin H. Oaks also talks about becoming holy and loving others.

Elder Alan R. Walker’s talk, “A Peculiar Treasure” is also on this week’s playlist. Tie it into Jehoshaphat gathering his people at the temple and praying. Grab the playlist.

July 27- August 2 (Ezra 1; 3-7; Nehemiah 2; 4-6; 8)

Focus on how we can “Come unto Christ- Together” with Elder Taniela B. Wakolo’s talk. In this week’s readings, the Jewish people have been captives in Babylonia for about 70 years. Many had forgotten God’s law. But, the Lord made a way for His people to return, both to Jerusalem and their covenants. Together, they rebuilt the house of the Lord and the wall around Jerusalem. They had help from one another, the scriptures, and from unexpected sources. Download the playlist.
