One of the biggest requests received since the Come, Follow Me for Individuals and Families has been introduced is for a way to connect with teens and even young adults away at college. How can we make sure they know what’s going on and keep the conversation going throughout the week? Intorducing Come, Follow Me Textables! I teamed up with the talented Colette from My Computer is My Canvas to design helpful weekly textable images to help you!
Textables are images you can easily send through a text message, share on your private Instagram account, or insert into an email. Each week, we’re giving you three images you can use: a reading assignment reminder, a scripture, and question to ponder.
Ways to use the New Testament Textables:
Text them to your teens throughout the week to remind them
Send them to your child away at college to include them in your family’s studies
Post them in your family’s private Facebook group or Instagram account to discuss
Use them in your ward’s newsletter!
Send them to the youth in your Church class
Share them with your ministering families
Email one to your grandchild and discuss the week’s readings
and so much more!
How will you use them? Download January’s textables now!
Like these New Testament textables? Pin it so others can find it too!
Please note: The file you download will be a compressed file. This means you will have to unzip first or you will get an error message.
How to Unzip a File
On Your Desktop
Techwalla has a great tutorial whether you use Windows or a Mac about how to unzip a file. You can then email the images to yourself to use on your mobile devices as well or add them to your Google Drive or other cloud network.
On Your Mobile Device
You may need to download an app in order to unzip the file (or even download a zip file). WinZip is an app that works on both iPhones and Android. Once I had WinZip downloaded on my phone, all I had to do was click on the zip file to open it. Next click on the three dots or menu bar at the top to “Select All” then click on the menu bar again and click “Extract to.” You can then choose which file to move them to and add them to your email or text from there.
For those with iPhones, this is what worked for one reader: Download WinZip. Then hold your finger on the download link. Choose, “Open in Notes.” Go to Notes and it will prompt you to “Open with WinZip.” It will unzip and give you each textable. Hold your finger on each file one at a time. When it opens, push the “forward” icon at the top of the page and choose, “save image” from that screen. They will go into your photos folder and you can easily text those by attaching a photo to your text.
You can also upload the zip file to your Google Drive from your phone and it will unzip it for you when you go to open it (at least it does on Android phones).
Family Bulletin Board Kit
Even better, these textables go right along with Colette's Family Bulletin Board Kit! Organize and manage each week’s reading and discussion!
The scripture matches the textable so you can really help everyone memorize a scripture or ponder it throughout the week. A fun way to help your family stay on top the things that matter most. Head over to My Computer is My Canvas to get yours!
