Teaching Thoughts

These are a few bonus ideas- keep scrolling for more!

  • For younger classes, try The Sabbath is a Day of Worship file folder game plus bonus coloring pages.

  • Teach the finger play about going to church. Interlock your fingers and close your hands so all the fingers are in the middle of your hands. Put the pointer fingers up to look like a chapel and the thumbs are the chapel doors. When you open your hands, wiggle the fingers to be all the people inside. "This is the Church and here is the steeple. Open the doors and see all the people." You can see an example of this rhyme on YouTube.

  • Go on a scavenger hunt with the printables included in the Red Headed Hostess class packet.

My Primary 2 Lesson 37 handout packet includes

  • Church Sabbath Day slider- Cut out the church doors to make a slider window or make it so the doors fold open. Tape the strips on the next page together to make one long strip. Slide the strip through the doors so one shows at a time. I left one square blank so your class could draw their own idea.

  • If you don't want to do the slider you could cut the strip into squares and have each child pick one out of a bag and act it out.
