We all know the story of Easter in the New Testament. We typically start with the Holy Week. Then we read and ponder Christ’s atoning His atoning sacrifice and rejoice as we discover the words, “Why seek ye the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen.”
We are grateful and amazed. Easter in the Americas, however, looked quite different. They didn’t have Jesus performing miracles around them- that was the other side of the world. They weren’t able to seat at His feet and hear His parables.
They did have a prophet though. Samuel the Lamanite prophesied of Christ’s resurrection in Helaman 14:14-31. He taught that when Christ would die, there would be great destruction and darkness for 3 days. We read the fulfillment of this prophesy in 3 Nephi 8-10. But then, there is chapter 11.
After everything has been destroyed, they suffered through the darkness and disasters, mourned for those who have died, they are given hope. All is not lost. The risen Christ visits the people. He teaches them, blesses them, loves them. He performs miracles.
This record of Christ’s appearance to the people in the Americas is absolutely beautiful. What beautiful scripture to read at Easter. Enjoy listening to this account as you color our free printable Nephite Easter scene.

What else would you add to the coloring page and why?
What greater insight do these verses of scripture give us of Christ’s resurrection?
Would you run up and be one of the first in line to feel the hands and feet of the Savior or would you wait at the back of the line?
