You want to have fun but you can’t really go anywhere. What’s a person to do? So much! Check out these four crazy fun ideas and invite your friends in on the fun! Use these ideas for a youth activity night, a night with the girls, grandparents connecting with grandchildren, etc.
Save it for later, pin it now!
Guess that Movie Emojis
This is a simple activity that can take as much or as little time as you want. Come up with 5-10 movie clues using emojis only to get your group started. Once they’ve warmed up, challenge your group to make their own clues to see if the rest of you can guess. For example, 🐯🐻🦧🐍🧑 could be a clue for the movie, Jungle Book. Here are a few more examples based on Disney movies.
If you are using this as a church activity, you may want to limit movies to G and PG only just in case. And if you don’t all have texting, get everyone over on Telegram instead. It’s texting but you can do it on a computer too. Hopefully, soon the Gospel Living Circles will be available on a computer too but until then, it’s a great free option for all devices.
Window Art Fun
Stores aren’t the only ones that can have fun window displays. Get in on the fun! Create a beautiful piece of art, display a favorite collection, or invent your own silly character. Dig through your old toys, donation pile, etc. and get brainstorming! Get some inspiration for fun window displays on Pinterest. Or you can go the full-on window artist style instead and grab your washable markers (or dry erase markers) to draw on your windows. Whatever you come up with will help you have some fun and spread some cheer to your whole neighborhood.
Take a photo of your creation to challenge your friends too! See who can come up with the prettiest, craziest, or silliest design. Use #windowartchallenge to share your creations online! Psstt… you can follow my Instagram too.
House Puns Challenge
Challenge your friends or youth group to a game of wits. Send them my list of puns to find and see if they can come up with a pun for each one. Photo or video proof is required as that’s half the fun. Caption each one and be sure to share them when you are done. You can text them all to each other or upload them to a shared Google Drive folder. Then make a poll using Google Forms and vote for your favorites. Send the winner a punny award like a box of muffins because “muffin compares to them.”
When you click the download button above, it’ll open the image. Right-click it to save it. Then you can email it, text it, etc. By downloading the image you agree to not change it in any way. Thanks!
Recreate Famous Artwork
Bring in a little culture with some of the best art in the world. Get in on the challenge issued by the Getty Museum and recreate some works of art with three things lying around your house. I’m loving some of the submissions people have given so far! Start by looking at these great pieces of art. My quick rendition is based on Still Life with Apples by Paul Cézanne. Create yours then challenge some friends to do it. See if you can guess each other’s masterpieces. When you include yourself in the artwork, it’s even more fun!
Doing it for a youth activity night? Famous artwork is fabulous but you can also make it more focused by saying everyone has to base their piece on an image they find on ChurchofJesusChrist.org.
Instant Talent Show
Have a talent show over a conferencing app! The trick is, you don’t have any time to prepare! Draw a leaf from my Instant Talent Show Family Date Night Kit and that’s what you have to do. One person can display the leaves behind them for the others to pick from. It’s fun, easy and great for some laughs! Plus you can talk more about making goals as part of the children’s and youth’s program- it’s the perfect time to work on them!
