Sidney Rigdon was preacher who was looking for the restored New Testament church on earth so when a former congregration member introduced him to the restored gospel, he was eager and open. However, since he was then a paid preacher which included a comfortable home for his family to live in, joining another faith wasn’t just about embracing new truth. He would give up his home and job. Here are a few other interesting things about Sidney Rigdon not included in the free printable below.
He presided over the Saints in Kirtland, Ohio while Joseph Smith and several other Church leaders were away for Zion’s Camp.
He was a key figure in the organization of the Kirtland Safety Society, a local bank. Unfortunately, it only lasted about a year.
Rigdon had an extensive knowledge of the Bible.
He and Joseph saw a vision of the three degrees of glory which you can read in D&C 76.
Though members of the Quorum of the Twelve reached out to Rigdon after Joseph Smith’s death, Rigdon refused to accept their leadership.
Rigdon went with Joseph Smith to Washington DC trying to seek redress from the federal government for the mistreatment Latter-day Saints suffered in Missouri. Unfortunately, it was not a successful endeavor.
We appreciate Sidney Rigdon’s 14 years of service in the Church. He faithfully endured several persecutions and bore his testimony of the living Christ powerfully.
