Unleash your creative side while revisiting the inspiring messages of General Conference! One of our absolute favorite ways to review is by turning the words of each talk into a personal, visual masterpiece. Whether you’re a doodler or a pro with colors, this practice helps the messages sink deeper into your heart and mind. Ready to see how it works?

Design Your Conference Talk Movie Poster
Your typical paper will do just fine for this activity but if you really want to make things pop, grab some small poster boards or larger paper such as legal size (8.5 x 14) to give it that movie poster feel. You will also find some free printable templates which are great for personal study as well as a group activity. Be sure to grab your markers or crayons for a beautiful display. Old magazines and stickers can come in handy too for those that don’t love to draw (especially church ones).
Pick a talk. If doing this activity with a group, decide if you will let everyone pick their favorites or if you’ll have everyone draw a talk out of a hat at random. The hat method means you’ll review more talks but it’s also neat to see which talks have stuck out with the people in your group.
Focus on the key message. Zero in on your favorite part or the central theme of the talk. Then, let your creativity flow! Draw a picture or design that captures the essence of that message in a unique way.
Create a catchy title. Every great movie poster needs a memorable title! For example, if you’re working on President Russell M. Nelson’s October 2024 talk, you could title it, “He is Coming.” A short, powerful phrase will drive the point home and make your poster pop.
Share your movie posters with friends or family and let them guess which talk you represented. With many talks sharing similar themes, it’s not always easy to guess. Then hang your masterpiece up somewhere you will see it often and be reminded of the powerful messages from General Conference throughout the year.
Not quite ready to design your own movie poster?
Try a squiggle challenge instead! We’ve designed several pages that include a small, random squiggle for you to try (or ask someone to draw a random squiggle for you). Your mission is to transform that random design into something that relates to a General Conference talk. You can assign talks at random beforehand or pick the talk after you see your squiggle. It’s a great little brain workout.
