Ways to Use Family History Bingo
Use these Bingo boards as a family or your church group. The tasks included are made to be simple enough to get the whole family involved and even the most hesitant person involved. The hope is once you get going, you will keep going! Temple and Family History Work really is addicting.
Race your family to see who can get a Bingo first! There are ten different boards. The winner gets to share something they learned along the way and whatever fun prize you decide on (like a candy bar from an ancestor’s homeland).
Great for your whole primary, youth group, Relief Society, or even the whole ward! Ask your Temple and Family History workers to hop on your ward’s Facebook page or set up private YouTube videos to email out explaining how to accomplish some of the tasks. If you use the board for a whole month, there will be plenty of time to get a Bingo and learn how to do new things!
Award one prize for a Bingo then challenge everyone to go for a blackout!
Tie it in with your Come Follow Me lessons. There are lots of great Doctrine and Covenant lessons you can tie this activity into including D&C 2 that mentions Malachi’s promise of turning the hearts. It also goes well with any section that talks about temple work, families, and missionary work.
Hand it out at your Temple and Priesthood Preview night. It’s a great way to get the youth excited about temple and family history work!
Start the board during a weekly activity or fireside then invite everyone to finish at home. This even ties in with the theme of Gathering Israel!
Be sure to check out FamilySearch.org for any questions you may have about doing the tasks. They have so many resources!
