Are you lighting the world this Christmas? Join Mormon.org and thousands of others through Christ-like service to #LIGHTtheWORLD. Today's great service idea is about feeding the hungry- with food, compliments, laughter, scriptures, and more. To start, gather your family into the kitchen and get cooking with this Dinner on Your Doorstep idea from Laura at Pink Cake Plate.
Dinner on Your Doorstep allows your family to enjoy the blessings of service while having lots of fun in the kitchen! There are two recipe cards for some delicious goodies if you need some inspiration and several food container toppers to help you make a yummy and beautiful meal to drop off to a family in your area. Don't know who to serve today? Say a family prayer before you get cooking then listen for the answer. Be sure to ask your children who they feel your dinner should go to- they often have the best insight.
Before you get cooking, pick up some foil containers with lids so you don't have to worry about dishes later. You can pick some up at your local dollar store or buy them in bulk online (save some for your Christmas dinner for easy clean up). Need a dinner idea? As you cook in the kitchen with your family, keep the conversation going. Use my free Dinner Conversation Cards as you cook together then print an extra set to include with your Dinner on Your Doorstep meal. You can feed a family with food and warm memories!
Use glue dots or a glue stick to adhere the printed toppers on the food container lids. When your meal is cooked add them to the containers and put the lids on. Put all your containers in a bag, add my matching Dinner Conversation Cards (download below) and deliver!
Don't have time to make a whole meal? No worries- skip the meal and focus on a sweet treat with the Conversation Cards.
Your Turn- How will you feed the hungry today?
