8 Free LDS eBooks to Read this Summer

Ahhh, it's summer! Time to get outside and enjoy some sunshine. Whether you are enjoying the sun poolside or at the park, if you have some down time, put these 8 free LDS eBooks on your list this summer. This list includes short and sweet ones great for those days when you need a little encouragement as well as the books packed full of information it's going to make your brain stretch.

Need an eReader first? Amazon has several versions of their Fire Tablets that make eReaders super affordable and they now come in all kinds of fun colors.

Forget Me Not by President Dieter F. Uchtdorf

This is one General Conference talk that immediately took off. It was given in a Women's Session back in 2011. President Uchtdorf reminds us of the small things that may go unnoticed by others that God does notices. This is the perfect book to read when you need a little reminder of your own greatness.

Your Happily Ever After by President Dieter F. Uchtdorf

Another great talk from President Uchtdorf- even fairy tale princesses had to struggle before their happily ever after. This is a favorite especially with the Young Women. Why get the ebook version? It's broken up in different ways than the conference talk back in 2010, includes photos to get you thinking, and highlights different parts of the talk. These are great little books to read when you are waiting in the doctor's office.

The Remarkable Soul of a Woman by President Dieter F. Uchtdorf

President Uchtdorf gives some beautiful talks! This one is from October 2008. You are a great power for good. President Uchtdorf reminds you of 2 godlike attributes that will contribute to your happiness as you continue to develop them as a remarkable woman. Send it to one of your friends in new of a reminder of their value.

A  Voice of Warning An Introduction to the Faith and Doctrine of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by Parley P. Pratt

Parley P. Pratt was one of the early apostles in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In this brief book, he outlines the doctrines of the church with his powerful testimony.

The Wentworth Letter by the Prophet Joseph Smith

This is the letter that Joseph Smith wrote to Wentworth that includes what we know now as the Articles of Faith. 

Jesus the Christ by James E.  Talmage

Elder Talmage writes about the Messiah and His mission according to Holy Scriptures both ancient and modern. This is a bigger book with endnotes that you shouldn't miss. If you want a better understanding of the Messiah, this is a great one to read.

The Great Apostasy Considered in the Light of Scriptural and Secular History by James E. Talmage

Another book full of information to get you thinking and understanding the need for the Restoration. Elder Talmage always explains things in great detail allowing you to learn a lot and expand your perspective.

Building Wealth for Building the Kingdom by Devin D. Thorpe

This is a financial planning guide for Latter-day Saint families going over topics from tithing to retirement. It includes chapters on financing missions, education, and discusses investments. If you have questions about how much you should be saving each month, this is a great book to help you find the answers.

You can of course, find the scriptures and even other LDS manuals for free download but since all of those are available in the LDS Gospel Library app, I didn't include them here. There are also quite a few novels that relate to a LDS theme or are written by a LDS author available for free as a Kindle Edition too. Take a look around and see what fits your personality.
