Details Revealed: Star Wars Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland

A galaxy far, far away will finally be accessible as of May 31, 2019 when Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens at Disneyland. This 14 acre expansion is set to be the most immersive experience Disney has created yet. And thanks to my friends at Get Away Today, here’s the scoop on all the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge details you need.

Star Wars at Disneyland

Disney has built a whole new planet to host Galaxy’s Edge. Batuu serves as the home of Black Spire Outpost, where guests will find themselves when they enter Galaxy’s Edge. Black Spire Outpost will feature an array of interactive opportunities, from rides to shopping and more.

Reservations

When Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens May 31, 2019 in Disneyland, no-cost reservations will be required in addition to valid Disneyland Resort admission. Details regarding how to acquire reservations are limited, but guests who want to visit Star Wars Land will need one to visit May 31 - June 23, 2019. Guests who choose to stay at one of the three Disneyland Resort Hotels during that time period will automatically be granted a reservation, however, so if you have ever wanted to try the Resort hotels, now is the time! Choose between Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel, the Disneyland Hotel and Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel and Spa. If you book by May 20, 2019 with Get Away Today you can save up to 25% on the Disneyland Resort Hotels- one more reason to try them out!

Rides

One of two rides will be available when Galaxy’s Edge opens in May. Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run will allow up to six guests to climb aboard the infamous ship to perform missions of high importance. Each seat on the Falcon will provide a different experience as a gunner, pilot or otherwise, allowing for a unique ride each time you go! Get a sneak peak of the inside of the Millennium Falcon on the Orange County Register.

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is expected to open later in 2019, showcasing some of the most advanced technology Disney has ever used on an attraction. More to details to be released later.

Dining

Since Galaxy’s Edge is located on Batuu and not Earth, the food will be like nothing experienced at Disneyland yet. In Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo you can find Tuggs’ Grubb, where Chef Tuggs will serve up delicious dishes such as Braised Shaak Roast and Ithorian Garden Loaf.

Ronto Roasters uses an old podracer engine to prepare meats for intergalactic options like Ronto Wraps and Turkey Jerky. For a refreshing drink, head to the Milk Stand for blue and green milk; don’t worry, it’s not what you might think! The Blue and Green Milk drinks will actually be non-dairy smoothies which will be a great option for cooling off during warmer days at Disneyland. For a family friendly dining experience, visit Oga’s Cantina for food and music.

Last but not least, guests in Galaxy’s Edge can find one of the most popular Disneyland treats at Kat Saka’s Kettle. Popcorn at the Kettle will have a unique blend of sweet, savory and spicy flavors.

Fun Extras

A few of the outposts in Black Spire will offer a true Star Wars experience. At the Droid Depot you don’t just walk in and select a sidekick to purchase and take with you on your journey through Galaxy’s Edge; you build it yourself! You will be able to choose droids from either the BB-series or the R-series when you work under the guidance of Mubo at the Depot to piece together a souvenir to take home. At Savi’s Workshop, you can hand build a lightsaber in a 20-minute experience. There will be themes to choose from when crafting a custom lightsaber, such as Justice, Power and Control or Elemental Nature.

Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities is the outpost to visit if you’re in search of rare souvenirs sourced from galaxies far and wide. Items will include jewelry and kyber crystals, which are used to give power to lightsabers.

To help you identify as either a member of the First Order or the Resistance, you can choose between a couple of different outposts in Black Spire. First Order Cargo will outfit you with apparel and gear to show your allegiance to the Order. If you’re harboring allegiance to the Resistance, stop by Resistance Supply for training supplies, tools and more.

If you have your heart set on bringing home an alien creature from Galaxy’s Edge, you’ll want to visit the Creature Stall outpost. Who knows what kind of intergalactic creatures you’ll discover here! For unique toys and collectables, you can find them in Zabaka’s Toydarian Toymaker outpost.
