Teaching Ideas
For baptism and repentance ideas, please see the lesson helps for Matthew 3; Mark 1; Luke 3 (the home study will have different handouts than the primary version you did a few weeks ago).
Unscramble the scripture verse John 3:3 as recommended in the manual using my worksheet pictured above. The dashes represent how man letters are in each word. If you want to make it harder, cut up the words and see if they can arrange them in the correct order instead.
Personalize John 3:16 with my other free handout pictured above. There is a place to write down each person’s name as well as 4 boxes to draw how they feel love from Heavenly Father.
Cut apart these summary strips from the story of the woman at the well and see if your class can put them in the correct order. Then discuss what happens next in the story (she tells others, Jesus teaches to all of them, etc).
For a poster of John 3:16 and more helps, check out all the free handouts and ideas available in my home study helps.
- The Red Headed Hostess also has weekly lesson packets full of ideas you can use at home or in Primary like these coloring pages and poster activities. You can also subscribe monthly.
Activity Pages
For activities on Baptism and Repentance see the lesson helps for Matthew 3; Mark 1; Luke 3.
SABBATH AND WORSHIP
Remember the Sabbath Day- For each activity a child says is good to do on Sunday, he can put a piece of manna into the basket.
The Lord's Day- A paper folding game- You could glue in pictures instead of words. Good way to keep some kids’ attention.
Lily's Sunday Morning- Find Lily's matching socks so she can go to church
Getting Ready for Church- Find the hidden objects
Going to Church- Maze
Saturday is a Special Day- Find the missing objects
What is This?- Guess the pictures
More than Just Quietly Sitting- Like a matching game but with how to be more reverent
The Sabbath is a Delight- Make a Sunday mobile

SACRAMENT
The Nephites Learn of the Sacrament- Tell this story and color the picture or make it into a book. Its always fun to add stickers to little booklets or small pictures of themselves in the artwork if you can manage it. Since there are just 3 pictures you could string them on a piece of yarn with straws or foam shapes separating the pictures to make a necklace too.
Taking the Sacrament- This is a door hanger that you can paste pictures on of the Savior. Talk about each picture during your lesson.
The Sacrament- A cut and paste activity about what we do for the sacrament.
Remember Him- A great picture wheel to color.
Remember- You can play a matching game with these pictures or just cut and paste. You could also play this as a fishing game.
On the Road to Emmaus- Make this one into a puzzle to put together as a class then sing the song and practice what it says.
I Can Repent and Be Baptized- A great 3-D poster to put together to remember how the sacrament and baptismal covenants are tied together.
I Will Remember Jesus Christ- Make a booklet to write down thoughts during the sacrament
Remember Jesus Christ during the Sacrament- Make this wheel to look at during the sacrament
Sacrament- Word search
Sacrament Time- Use this poster to talk about how different people are reverent during the meeting- probably better for younger classes
The Sacrament- Fill in the blanks by using the clues
The Sacrament- Discover the promises as you fill in the blanks
What Should I Think About When I Take the Sacrament- Answers from Elder Jeffrey R. Holland (Quorum of the 12 Apostles)
A Sacred Prayer- Fill in the blanks for the sacrament prayer
How Should I Behave in Sacrament Meeting- Poster with ideas and pictures to show what to do.
