Come, Follow Me 2 Nephi 6-10 "O How Great the Plan of Our God!" (February 10-16) focuses a lot on the Atonement of Jesus Christ. This is a great opportunity to talk about all that the Atonement of Jesus Christ does for us.

Jacob, Nephi’s younger brother, quotes a lot of Isaiah in these chapters. Here are some key points he covers:
Israel will be restored when they believe in Jesus Christ.
The Atonement of Jesus Christ delivers all from physical and spiritual death.
Our attitudes and actions determine whether we receive the full blessings of the Atonement of Jesus Christ.
Our hearts can be full of cheer because of Jesus Christ

As you discuss 2 Nephi 8:3-7, get out my desert scene. Label each cactus with an example of how our lives can be like a desert. Then color over the cacti to transform the scene into a beautiful garden as you talk about ways the Lord can turn those things into something beautiful and flourishing. How can our attitudes help change our deserts? How does the Lord help us? Where can you find joy?
Watch one of the Book of Mormon videos and pause it as you hear things that strike you. Share your thoughts, discuss then continue.
In 2 Nephi 9:1-26 we learn about how we can escape the monster of death and hell through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Make my magic wallet to demonstrate how God sets us free (see Instructable Craft for how to make yours- it’s not too hard. I used duct tape instead of glue to make it easier). When you open it one way, it’ll show the boy and girl trapped behind the X. However, when you open it the other way, people will be free to escape. Discuss how we have to choose to step over the tape and leave or use the Atonement of Jesus Christ in our lives to be freed spiritually but all men will receive the physical escape. The spiritual escape is offered to all but we must accept it.

Study the third Article of Faith this week with the help of this activity from The Friend.
Discuss the things you normally rely on every day. For example, the light switch should turn the light on. You use your phone to communicate throughout the day. You expect the door to open. How do these things let us down occasionally? Is there anything you can count on no matter what? Look for that answer as you read 2 Nephi 8.
How does it make you feel when you ponder the Savior’s sacrifice for you individually? When have you been uplifted through the enabling power of the Atonement? When you have needed the cleansing power of the Atonement, how have you felt when you were forgiven?
As you study 2 Nephi 9:27-54, try this fun activity. Assign one half of your group look for all the invitations and the other half look for all the warnings or wo statements. Fill out an invitation or warning sign for each one then share and discuss as a group.
Discuss some of the Wo statements in further detail and understand the why behind the warnings. After you make your signs, shuffle the signs up and give each person one to study further and discuss. Use the Guide the Scriptures and General Conference talks to help.
2 Nephi 9:34 warns against lying. Study honesty further with the helps for Howard W. Hunter Chapter 18 or the helps for Primary 2 Lesson 34.
