Come, Follow Me Hebrews 7-13 "An High Priest of Good Things to Come" (November 11-17) starts with Paul naming Jesus Christ as a great example of a High Priest and using the Melchizedek Priesthood. He ends by listing even more examples, this time as examples of faithfulness. There are so many good men and women we can look up to throughout the scriptures.

Hebrews 7:1-22
These verses discuss the Melchizedek Priesthood. For centuries, the Jews had exercised the Aaronic Priesthood but with Jesus Christ and the fulness of the gospel came the Melchizedek Priesthood.

Questions to Ponder
What are some things you want to better understand about the Priesthood?
How are you accessing Priesthood power in your daily life?
Why is it important to you to understand the responsibilities of the Melchizedek Priesthood?
How can you show gratitude for the Priesthood?
What are some of the blessings you have because the Priesthood has been restored today?
How do you and your family honor the Priesthood?
How does the Priesthood help you? How can you use the Priesthood to help others?
Teaching Activities
To understand the duties and roles of the Aaronic and Melchizedek Priesthood, print out my Priesthood sheet. Paste the names and responsibilities in the appropriate box. How does knowing these things help us honor the Priesthood?
Fold the above assembled priesthood chart so the Melchizedek Priesthood doesn’t show. This is what the Jews were used to having, the Aaronic Priesthood. What additional blessings do we have because we have the fulness of the gospel and thus the Melchizedek Priesthood?
Head to Doctrine and Covenants 84 and 107 as President Russell M. Nelson suggested and study those sections as a family. What additional knowledge have you gained about the priesthood in those scriptures? What else can you study to learn more (see also the additional study suggestions in the manual)?
After you have completed my priesthood chart, go back through and list all the ways those different responsibilities help others. For example, because fast offerings are collected, we can help others who are without. Because the priesthood can heal, holders of the priesthood can give blessings of comfort and health.
Look for a younger version? Go fishing for some of these priesthood duties instead- print out the handout that goes with my Primary 6 Lesson 33 lesson helps.

Hebrews 9:1-10:22
All ordinances, ancient and modern, point towards Jesus Christ. If we forget that, they don’t mean much.

Questions to Ponder
What are some of the ordinances that you have participated in? How do they help you come closer to Jesus Christ?
What are some of the covenants you have made because of your ordinances? How are you living these covenants now? How do they give you strength, peace, and a stronger testimony?
In what ways does the sacrament point to Jesus Christ? How can you prepare yourself for the sacrament each week so your focus is Jesus Christ?
How is your life different because of ordinances and covenants?
How can you help others prepare to partake of future ordinances?
Why do we sometimes take the focus off of Jesus Christ during an ordinance? How can we put the focus back on Him?
Teaching Activities
Print my Ordinances Point to Jesus Christ sheet. Write down ordinances you have or hope to participate in as well as some ancient ordinances we no longer do in each of the boxes. In or near the arrow, write how that ordinances points you to Jesus. What happens when we forget that Jesus is the reason for these ordinances? How can we properly remember Him during these times such as during the sacrament?
Watch The Tabernacle or Sacrifice and the Sacrament videos listed above. Think about how these old ordinances testified of Jesus Christ (you can fill out my worksheet as you go). What else can you learn from these videos about the ordinances we participate in today?
What are some things that we do when someone is getting ready to participate in an ordinance? For example, what do we do when someone is going to be baptized or going to the temple for the first time? Do the things we do also point towards Jesus Christ or do they distract? Think about your traditions and if there are things you want to change.

Questions to Ponder
In what ways does faith allow you to see more clearly?
What are some things you cannot see but hope to be true? Why do you believe?
How can the faithful examples of others strengthen your faith? Whose example has done that for you?
How can you be a faithful example for someone else?
What are some of the promises that are afar off? How are you being patient in obtaining theme? What helps you when you start to become impatient?
After studying the scriptures, how would you define faith?
How can you help someone who is having a hard time holding on to their faith?
Teaching Activities
Go over the faithful examples in Hebrews 11. You can cut apart the names on my printables and give everyone a different person to study then share with your group. How does their faithful example strengthen your resolve and faith? What example are we leaving? Who is a good example of being faithful today? You can write your answers on my blank sheet.
Cut apart the different names on my printable and form them into a chain link. Show how long it is and how powerful it is to have so many examples. If you can, display pictures of some of the names. Then write more faithful names on the blank sheet- from other scriptures or your own lives. Add them to the chain as you share with each other. Can you add yourself to the chain as well?
Play some trust building activities then discuss how we can always trust God even more than we can trust each other. How are faith and trust related? What kind of activities can we do to increase our trust in God? What can we do to show that God can trust us?
Discuss how faith is believing without seeing. Put some objects in boxes. Cut a hole so people can stick their hands inside but can’t see what it is. One at a time, have your family put their hands inside the box and guess what each object is. Once they have figured it out successfully, ask them how they know. Then discuss how we can have faith in Jesus Christ and His gospel without seeing Him. You can do the same thing but with smelling the objects instead.
Color my free General Conference coloring page to discuss how we need to create time to connect to heaven every day. The quote is from Brother Stephen W. Owen’s talk, “Be Fatihful, Not Faithless.”
Tie in Elder Gerrit W. Gong’s talk, “Our Campfire of Faith” with your lesson. You can even build a fire and cook s’mores as you discuss. Head to my free printables for that talk and discuss how different things can help our campfire of faith as well as fuel our flame of faith.
