At least 15 talks from General Conference October 2020 referred to our fears. Fear of the world, fear of the unknown, fear we can’t do it, fear of everything. What are you afraid of? Why is fear a dominant feature in our lives right now and what makes it dangerous? How can you choose faith more often instead of fear?
Save it for later, pin it now!
Bonus: Doubt Not, Fear Not Object Lesson
Here’s a fun object lesson you can use as you talk about choosing to have faith instead of fear.
Grab a piece of rope (it doesn’t need to be long). Ask your family or church group if they have ever climbed a rope before. Was it hard? Was there anything you could do to help? What was usually at the bottom of the rope and sometimes in other places? The answer is a knot. If we are climbing this rope metaphorically to heaven, would knots be a good idea? Each time we choose to doubt not, fear not, we are adding a knot to our rope (tie a few as you say “doubt knot, fear knot”). When we start to slip a little, the knots help stop us from falling all the way to the bottom. The knots help us grab more firmly onto the rope and give us a little boost up to the next spot. Choosing faith instead of fear can boost us each day. When we choose to have faith, we choose to have peace. What are some ways we can choose to “doubt knot, fear knot”?
