I was given this advent for free, however, the opinions are always 100% my own.
Every year it seems like the "Christmas" movies are less about Christ and more about holiday decorations in the background. Don't let your December become like that too! It is so easy to get wrap up in all the things we are "supposed" to do in the month of December that we forget why it is such a special time of year.
Take back the reins and do intentional things to keep the focus on our Savior. These are three ways to help you start to keep Christ your family's focus.
Heidi Hillman from A Lively Hope has created this beautiful 24 day Christmas Advent focusing on the Names of Christ. It's a wonderful way to redirect the focus on Jesus Christ every day. Each day read the scriptures and go through the discussion questions that Heidi provides. Then color a gorgeous hand drawn ornament to place on your tree. As you come to know Christ through the scriptures and His different names, your Christmas tree will transform into another great reminder. You can buy the Names of Christ Advent Devotional here.
Put the teachings of Jesus Christ into action to help Light the World. Each day, read a teaching of Jesus Christ found on Mormon.org then do an act of service based on that teaching. For example, Christ told us in Matthew 25:35, "For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat." You could do something to feed the hungry like donating to a food bank, sharing an uplifting message to someone that is spiritually hungry, or doing one of these other ideas.
