Materials Needed
Blank notebooks or journals
Scrapbook paper
Our free printable Conference glue-ins (see bottom of this post)
Markers, colored pencils, or crayons
Stickers or decorative items
Scissors and glue
If you really want to jazz up the covers of your notebook, scrapbook paper is an easy solution. You can read instructions from Crafts by Amanda. We love decorating the inside covers of our notebooks too. Or simply grab a bunch of old magazines to cut and paste on your covers. Then start creating the rest of your notebook.
A few things to keep in mind
Keep some pages to enjoy as you prep for General Conference. These can include a page to write down questions, a leadership sheet, a page to record how you experience the Holy Ghost so you can work on building those spiritual muscles, or even a game. Consider adding our prep sticky notes or print them on regular paper and cut out the designs.
Overall themes can help as you design your notebook. Try themes like nature, a favorite scripture story, in the city, or any of your favorite things.
Do you want to sprinkle in activities throughout your notebook or make a whole section dedicated for activities? If you need more than we have here try printing some from the church’s website or grab one of our activity books and print a few pages for everyone.
There are about 32-35 talks throughout the weekend. Do you want a page per talk or less?
Would you rather have dedicated pages for specific apostles or organize your notes by session? You can cut apart our free printable apostles sheet to make dedicated pages or paste the whole thing in the start of your notebook for easy reference.
Do you want to make a review section? Add our free printable review sheet!
Add some tabs now and some later. Depending on how you want to organize your notebook (by session for example), you may want to add additional tabs afterward.
Fold each tab in half then add glue and paste to your notebook page at least 1/3 of the way down. Hold for a few seconds then let dry. If you want extra secure tabs, add packing tape over them then trim.
In addition to our free printables, we recommend grabbing old magazines, stamps, etc. to brighten up your notebooks. The more fun you make it, the more you’ll want to use it. Afterall, that’s the point. Remember, don’t use anything too bumpy or it’ll be hard to write. Some resources to consider:
- Our Chicken stickers encourage people to go back through their notebooks after Conference is over and highlight parts that are important to them. Plus, they're cute!
- These Christian stickers would be a fun way to add some flair to any notebook. They are fun for waterbottles too.
- You can find some colorful sets of beautiful washi tape to liven up your notebooks too. They are great for sealing seams as well as fun to add borders on pages. You can even line the edge of a page so you know when a different section begins.
Additional free printables you may want to add
