President M. Russell Ballard referenced his grandfather’s talk, “Struggle for the Soul” where this coloring page’s quote comes from. One of my favorite points President Ballard reminded us of is that we are in fact, spiritual beings first. When we go against the spiritual side of us, it’s going against our very nature.
President M. Russell Ballard’s talk is titled, “Giving Our Spirits Control over Our Bodies.”
“The greatest conflict that any man or woman will ever have … will be the battle that is had with self” is by Melvin J. Ballard © By Intellectual Reserve, Inc.
In Elder Dale G. Renlund’s talk, “Unwavering Commitment to Jesus Christ,” he tells about a tradition that the Congolese have of throwing their idols over a big waterfall after they converted to Christianity. It’s a great reminder of the commitment we need to make as we become lifelong disciples of Jesus Christ.
“Commit to a lifelong process of discipleship” is by Dale G. Renlund © By Intellectual Reserve, Inc.
Elder Ronald A. Rasband also discusses commitment to the gospel in his talk, “Standing by Our Promises and Covenants.” He ties in the theme of being committed to the gospel to the youth theme for 2020, Nephi’s statement of being willing to trust in the Lord and do what is asked of us.
If you are wondering, that’s Sam in the picture with Nephi.
In “Deceive Me Not,” Elder Gary E. Stevenson tells us of two great stories from when his children were younger- one where one of his children tried to turn their black Labrador into a Dalmatian and another of mistaken identity of a skunk. They are humorous stories that help bring home a point of how Satan is constantly trying to deceive us and trying to get us to forget who we are. Elder Stevenson says we can do as Moses and tell Satan, “You cannot deceive me, for I know who I am.”

President Henry B. Eyring reminds us of where great happiness can be found, in increasing our personal holiness. He pointed to the temple and how it says, “Holiness to the Lord” one each one. He tells of an experience he had while attending the temple for the first time and reminds us of the special sacred moments we can have that let us know we are becoming more holy.

“The Message, the Meaning, and the Multitude” by Elder Jeffrey R. Holland was such a great start to October 2019’s General Conference. Didn’t you love how he welcomed us to Conference? I really appreciated how he reminded us that the focus of General Conference and all we do is Jesus Christ. This target like the coloring page will remind you that as well.
