Discover fun facts about Elder Gérald Caussé

Come get to know our newest apostle, Elder Caussé.

  • Prior to serving fulltime in the Church, he worked in the food industry with several supermarket chains and food distribution companies.

  • He was born in Bordeaux, France on May 20, 1963 (62 years old at the time of his call to be a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles).

  • He married Valérie Lucienne Babin in August of 1986 (in the Bern Switzerland Temple) but he has known her since he was a child. They have five children.

  • He and his wife are second-generation members of the Church. Elder Caussé’s parents were baptized when he was six months old. Sister Caussé’s parents were baptized when she was 3 years old.

  • If you look at his past messages you’ll find he often speaks about caring for God’s creations, finding hope in Christ, and encouraging the rising generation.

  • Elder Caussé is an accomplished pianist with two albums - Joyful (2019) and Noël (2020). He says playing the piano in his youth was instrumental in developing his testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

  • He and his family also lived in Germany and the United States due to his Church callings.

  • Before his call to the apostleship, he was serving his 11th year as the Church’s Presiding Bishop. Did you know the Presiding Bishopric manages such matters as humanitarian aid, welfare programs, tithing and fast offerings, physical facilities, and the organization of membership records, among others?
