Elder Bednar served as the president of Ricks College when it transformed into a 4-year college becoming Brigham Young University- Idaho in 2001.
He has co-authored two books on organizational behavior, his field of study.
He baptized his father in the late 1970s after Elder Bednar was married.
He is a big believer in bringing the scriptures to every church meeting. He encouraged those within his stake in Arkansas to do likewise. As president of BYU-Idaho, he encouraged the students to bring their scriptures to every devotional.
He met his wife at a flag football game. He was impressed when she caught a pass.
He was a professor of business management at Texas Tech University and at the University of Arkansas.
He is fifteen years younger than his closest sibling.
