Elder Cook served a mission in the British Isles and was at one point, missionary companions with Elder Jeffrey R. Holland.
He also used to be president and CEO of a California healthcare system.
Before becoming an apostle, Elder cook worked as the Executive Director of the Missionary Department, where he helped developed the missionary manual, Preach My Gospel.
He is a fan of Charlie Brown and the Peanuts gang.
He is the great-great-grandson of the apostle Heber C. Kimball.
Elder Cook has known his wife since seventh grade.
