The B stands for Bennion, his mother’s maiden name.
His friends call him Hal.
Due to gas restrictions during World War II, the Eyring family held church meetings in their home. President Eyring never missed a primary meeting. 😉
He often dreamed of his future children as a child, giving them a collective nickname, “The Redheads” imagining them with red hair like his mom’s.
His first date with his wife, Kathleen, was a tennis match which she clearly won.
He has been the president of Ricks College (now BYU-Idaho).
Graduated as the top ROTC cadet in his class from the University of Utah and served with distinction in the United States Air Force.
His uncle was President Spencer W. Kimball (the 12 president of the Church).
He did not serve a full-time mission due to restrictions because of the Korean War. Instead, he served as a district missionary in the Western States Mission during the evenings and weekends during his military service.
He enjoys woodcarving and painting with watercolor.
President Eyring has also served as the First Counselor in the Presiding Bishopric.
He was Commissioner of Church Education for 18 years.
